Chinese tech giant Baidu’s Apollo Go robotaxi has stirred heated discussion among netizens about its safety and the potential disruption of the taxi industry since it began operating in Wuhan in April.

However, these cars are not completely without human supervision. According to Ministry of Transport regulations, driverless cars must be equipped with online safety operators. Images of safety operators sitting behind these driving monitors have also gone viral lately.
